Indonesia vz Singapore in Education

With a larger population than Singapore, Indonesia must be richer than Singapore, right? But in reality, Singapore is the one who is able to build the best education through the best hands they have in the government, especially those who work in the education department. Singapore always monitors the development and potential of students.                                                               According to the basic notion of comparative education, it means analyzing two or more things to look for similarities and differences. Thus the comparative study of education is understood as an attempt to analyze and study in depth two things or aspects of the education system, to find and find similarities and differences that exist from both things.Comparative education is a translation of the term "Comparative Education". While other experts, transfer the term into Indonesian. By using the term comparative education. But basically the various terms used have the same meaning, namely as a comparative study (comparative study) about education and education. Level of Education in Indonesia

The level of education is the stage of education that is determined based on the level of development of students, goals to be achieved, and abilities developed. Education in Indonesia recognizes three levels of education, namely primary education (SD / MI, SLTP / MTs), secondary education (high school, MA, SMK), and higher education (Academy, Polytechnic, College, Institute, University). A. basic education Basic education is the level of education that underlies secondary education. Every citizen aged seven to fifteen is required to attend basic education. The Government and Regional Government guarantees the implementation of compulsory education for every citizen aged 6 (six) years at the level of basic education without charging fees. Basic education is in the form of: Primary Schools (SD) and Islamic Primary Schools (MI) or other equivalent forms; as well as junior high schools (SMP) and Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs), or other equivalent forms. B. Middle education Secondary education is an advanced basic education. Secondary education consists of: General secondary education, and vocational secondary education. Secondary education is in the form of: high school (SMA), Madrasah Aliyah (MA), Vocational High School (SMK), and Vocational Aliyah Madrasah (MAK), or other equivalent forms. C. higher education Higher education is a level of education after secondary education which includes diploma, undergraduate, master, specialist and doctoral education programs organized by universities. Universities can be in the form of: Academy, Polytechnic, High School, Institute, or University.Universities are obliged to carry out education, research, and community service. Universities can organize academic, professional and vocatinal programs.

Education System in Singapore

Compulsory education in Singapore lasts for ten years, although continuing university education in Singapore requires 13 years of basic education. Primary and secondary schools last for 10 years. At the end of grade 10, students will face GCE O-Level or GCE N-Level exams. Students can complete their education at a Junior College, get a diploma degree and certification in one of the Polytechnics, or leave school and start work. Pre-University will last for 3 years - where students prepare for GCE A-Level. After completing GCE A-Level, students will take classes at one of the universities in Singapore. A bachelor's degree will be achieved after three to five years. The choice of majors is Engineering, Dentistry, Law, Development, Music and Architecture or Medicine. Minimum English language requirements are IELTS 6.0. A Masters degree in Singapore can be obtained after completing one to three years. Minimum English requirements are IELTS 6.5.

Education level in Singapore:

A. Kindergartens (kindergarten) Schools with a 3-year education program for children from the age of 4 to 6 years. This 3-year education program consists of Nursery, Kindergarten 1 and 2. B. Primary Education This is a compulsory school program in Singapore with a 6-year education period consisting of 4 years of basic education from grades 1 to 4 and followed by a 2-year orientation period from grades 5 to 6. C. Secondary Education (SMP + SMA) Course education programs with a 4-5 year duration are specified in a number of Special, Express, Normal (Academic) or Normal (Technical) options, according to the results they get during the national final exam (PSLE). Different curriculum is designed for students according to their learning abilities and also the personal interests of the students. D. Pre-University Education (Pre-University Education)This is a 2-year education program to prepare students to take the GCE ‘A’ Levels exam. Depending on the course they are taking and the final grade, students who graduate can continue their education to the University level at Singapore Local University. E. Polytechnics (Polytechnic) This institution was formed with a mission to train mid-level professionals to support economic and technological development in Singapore. Providing a large selection of majors to students, polytechnics are intended to train students to develop themselves according to their respective interests and expertise so that they can get a place in the world of work after graduation.
F. Singapore Universities (University of Singapore)
University Education in Singapore has a mission to prepare students not for the world of work today but to prepare them when they enter the workforce after they graduate. Singapore has three local universities, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Management University (SMU), all offering undergraduate programs that are internationally recognized.
