Literature review of journal
Hello friend, welcome back to my blog. Here I will explain the content of journal Developing Students' Ability in Reading through Quick Reading Techniques, especially a literature review continue my blog before. Come on reading!💖
The first is the definition of reading, we know that reading is very closely applied to other language processes such as listening, speaking, and writing. Reading is one of the activities of seeking information in reading texts, by reading will open the horizons of thinking in the face of a problem. In reading, suppose the reader is aware of what they are reading, so that the decisive goal can be achieved.
The second is the level of reading, in this level of reading there is an initial level to show understanding by responding to questions in student vocabulary or grammar. Then there is the basic level, this level of study for the ability to understand information about graphics, maps and others. There are also intermediate level, this level study skimming to find information found in reference material. The last advanced level, the purpose of this level is to improve the reading level obtained from the previous level.
The third is the reading strategy, the first strategy is skimming, which is to find the main idea or essence that requires special concentration. The purpose of skimming to get an impression of books, articles or short stories. The second is Scanning which is reading text quickly to find certain information items. There are several procedures in scanning, namely, read the section that contains instructions to get the information needed.
The fourth is the type of reading, the first is there is an aloud reading in reading aloud students will gain experience in developing habits to practice loud voices and practiced as much as possible. Then there is silent reading, this reader tends to strengthen the reader to find out the meaning of the words. Then there is speed reading, this speed reading skill must go side by side with the main purpose of reading, namely understanding.
The last is Speed Reading Concept. Speed reading is the ability to read 10,000 to 25,000 words per minute (Berg 2002). The average student reads between 250 and 350 words per minute on fiction and non-technical material. A good reading speed is around 500 to 700 words per minute, but some people can read a thousand words per minute or even faster on this material. (Berg, 2002).
